Rita L. Robinson manages the City of Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation consisting of 3,000 employees.  The Bureau’s mission is to protect public health and the environment.  The Bureau’s vision is to be an organization that sets the benchmark for outstanding service and responds to the challenges of tomorrow.  The Bureau is responsible for managing the City’s liquid and solid resources.

 

Prior to becoming Director of the Bureau of Sanitation in January 2004, she served as Interim General Manager of the Los Angeles Housing Department for one year, and as Interim General Manager of the Department of Transportation for six months.  Ms. Robinson is a 29-year city employee having served in a number of capacities throughout the City of Los Angeles including the Community Development Department, Office of the City Administrative Officer, and the Department of Recreation and Parks.
