The MURI project is a collaborative effort led by Professor Chan Joshi and Dr. Sergei Tochitsky from University of California Los Angels (UCLA) and includes

- College of Optics and Photonics at UCF (CREOL) - Professor Konstantin Vodopyanov
- University of Maryland (UM) - Professor's Howard Milchberg, Ki-Yong Kim and Phil Sprangle
- Stony Brook University of NY (SUNY) - Professor Ilan Ben-Zvi
- University of Michigan (UMich) - Professor's Igor Jovanovich, Almantas Galvanauskas and Karl Krushelnik
Four major tasks are
- LWIR Source Development
- Nonlinear Propagation Dynamics in the LWIR Window (8-15 µm)
- LWIR Filamentation in Air
- Laser-Plasma studies using LWIR pulses.
