BIOSKETCH
Serap Savari is an Associate Professor in the Department
of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the
University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She received an
S.B. degree in electrical engineering, an S.M.degree in
electrical engineering and computer science, an S.M. degree
in operations research, and a Ph.D. degree in electrical
engineering and computer science, all from MIT.
Professor Savari was a Member of Technical Staff in the Computing
Sciences Research Center at Bell Laboratories, Lucent Technologies
from 1996-2003. Her research interests include information theory,
data compression, computer and communication systems,
and data networks. Professor Savari was an Associate Editor
for Source Coding for the IEEE Transactions on Information Theory
from 2002-2005. She was the Bell Labs representative to the DIMACS
council from 2001-2003, and has been a member of the program committees
for the 2001, 2002, 2004, 2005 IEEE International Symposia on Information
Theory, the 2004 and 2006 IEEE Information Theory Workshops and the 2000-2005
IEEE Data Compression Conferences.
