Information on Course C118/218 - Multimedia Environmental Assessment
The computer classroom Rm. 4405 Boelter Hall will be available for our
course every Tuesday, Thursday 4 pm -6 pm. In addition, the computer class
in Rm. 4442 is available for general use at all other times.
The Class path for the SEASNET class account is: /W/class.1/ch/ch118/cbin
In this directory you will find the Biota model designed to estimate
bioaccumulation in finned fish using a linear food chain model.
The second software package available is called CHEMBASE. It should
be available from Windows where you will see the CHEMBASE icon.
CHEMBASE has physicochemical information and partition coefficients
for about 102 chemicals. It also has the ability to estimate vapor
pressures at different temperatures for some of the chemicals. Also,
CHEMBASE can estimate media partition coefficients (e.g., air/water,
soil/air and sediment/water, etc.) for default conditions.
The multimedia transport model and the risk assessment model will be
placed on SEASNET in about a week.
Please note that this Monday (1/22/96) Robert van de Water of my Rsearch
Group will instruct you on the use of CHEMBASE and also on the information
that you will need to obtain for your multimedia assessment. Robert has
extensive experience in multimedia modeling and should be able to answer any
questions that you may have regarding the modeling aspect and data gathering
for your project.
