SOLES has a 7 elected member Executive Board. On top of that, there are a few elected representatives. These are the leaders of SOLES for this year:
PRESIDENT | |
Name: Carlos A. Marrufo Position: President Major: Civil Engineering Year in school: 3rd Year SOLES member since: Fall 2005 Positions previously held in SOLES: Secretary What motivated you to be in the SOLES board? To help out the organization as much as I could. SOLES had given and done so much for me when I was a 1st year. And so I ran for Secretary my 2nd year and I learned a lot from being on the SOLES Board. As for running for President, I knew that I wanted to do it eventually. And I honestly wanted to wait and run for President my 4th year, but I knew this was my year to step up and do the best that I can at running SOLES. So with being President, I've learned so much this year and I hope to keeping helping SOLES as much as I can for the rest of this year and for the rest of my time here at UCLA What do you like most about SOLES? The opportunities that SOLES have to offer. What some people don't understand is that SOLES is an organization that will help you strive and help you do your best at UCLA through professional development, community outreach, social events and academics. More reasons as to why you should stay in engineering at UCLA. What is your favorite SOLES event? I have many, but my favorites include EIT/YMD/WISE, the SHPE Conference and Ski Trip! Future plans? I've thought about staying on the SOLES board once I was done this year, however I don't want to take the opportunity away from somebody else who plans to run for the positions I was thinking about (Vice-President or ACES Director). So I've decided to take it to the next level and run for SHPE's Region 2 Student Representative (RSR). We'll see what happens! |
